What is a DWH?

Broadly speaking, a data warehouse (DWH) is a business database where historical and current data from disparate sources have been consolidated into one central place. The idea is that there will be one source for most, if not all, reporting. This improves consistency of reporting across a business.

This sounds very simple, and in fact, if a data warehouse is built correctly then it is - it certainly makes the reporting for the end users and management a lot simpler. The trick is to design, load and maintain it properly. We have the necessary expertise to achieve this - we understand the theoretical and practical structures of the data warehouse well.

The above two paragraphs are for business readers, but if you are interested in the theoretical structures behind the scenes then please go to the Star Schema page for more explanation.
